Enniskillen and Omagh Town Centres and many villages throughout the District are glowing with festive lighting as we enter December and commence our Christmas programme of events.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Seasonal Saturdays begin on Saturday 03 December 2022 from 12.30pm in both Enniskillen and Omagh.  There will be performances by Fermanagh Concert Band and St Eugene’s Brass and Reed Band, carol singers and festive characters.  There will also be a special guest appearance by Santa during the afternoon in both towns.

The Seasonal Saturdays continue on 10 and 17 December 2022 including festive music provided by local artists Aiden Scott Browne and Brothers Inc in Omagh and Cathy McGovern and Shaun Loughrey in Enniskillen.  The festive entertainment will provide a warm welcome for residents and visitors in both towns.

In addition to the Seasonal Saturdays, the Council has sponsored a variety of festive entertainment throughout the District to provide further magical experiences.

Enjoy a traditional Christmas with Dickens Christmas Fayre by the Golden Apple Players at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh or Fermanagh Fun Farm’s Live Nativity Play.

Take a walk through Omagh’s Winter Wonderland at O’Neill’s Healy Park from 01 December 2022 to 01 January 2023.  Explore the delightful Christmas Market and enjoy the atmosphere of the festive music and entertainment as well as views of the town from ‘Omagh Eye Ferris Wheel’.

Get your skates on and glide around the very popular Share on Ice at Share Holiday Village, Lisnaskea from 18 November 2022 to 04 January 2023.

Board the Polar Express train ride with Mrs Claus and her Elves in Enniskillen Cancer Connect’s Winter Wonderland.  Enjoy storytelling and seasonal fun and games every weekend from 02-10 December 2022.

The Council has also rolled out a Christmas Tree and illumination programme to provide trees to the towns and villages throughout the District to support their festive activities.  Buildings in Carrickmore, Dromore, Fintona, Irvinestown and Lisnaskea will also be decorated with festive animations.

Speaking about the Christmas programme, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said:

“The Council is delivering and supporting a programme of Christmas events in the lead up to Christmas.

I am confident that the Seasonal Saturday will help to encourage residents and visitors into our two main towns and provide opportunities to support local businesses.

I also welcome the provision of Christmas Trees to towns and villages throughout the District.  It is important that we spread the festive cheer as widely as possible and ensure that all our towns and villages continue to thrive.

This Winter will be particularly challenging for many people, not least with the cost-of-living crisis.  Therefore, it is all the more important that we embrace the festivities and Christmas cheer when and where possible throughout Christmas and December.”

A variety of Christmas themed events are also taking place at Council venues providing fun for all the family.  The ever popular ‘Elf Escape’ is back at the Marble Arch Caves and Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Geopark is offering Christmas Science Workshops where you can try some festive experiments!

The Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen, and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh will also be offering a variety of workshops, music performances and films – there’s something for everyone!
