Council Chair hosts reception for Enniskillen Gaels All Ireland Scor na nÓg Champions
14th March 2025

Recently the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John McClaughry, hosted a reception for Enniskillen Gaels Scor na nÓg group in honour of them winning an All Ireland title.
The following is a copy of the speech made by the Chair at the Reception:
As Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, I am delighted to welcome you all to the Townhall, Enniskillen for this reception in honour of Enniskillen Gaels All Ireland Scor Na nÓg Champions.
Your journey in the competition began in October 2024 when you won the County Fermanagh title in Tempo. This earned you a place in the Ulster Semi-Finals which took place in Stradone, Co Cavan on 17 November 2024. You then progressed to the Ulster Finals which were held on 30 November 2024 in Silverbridge, Co Armagh. You once again enjoyed success and brought the Ulster title back to Fermanagh. This deservedly earned you a place in the All Ireland Finals.
All roads led to the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan on Saturday 25 January 2025 for the Finals where you competed against Westmeath, Roscommon and Cork who had won the title previously.
Your acting talents shone through and your months of practice were rewarded as you were victorious and deservedly won the All Ireland Scor Na nÓg Drama title. This is a fantastic achievement as it is the first All Ireland Scor title for Enniskillen Gaels and also for Fermanagh.
Scor Na nÓg was established in 1969 with the aim of combining the colour and rivalry of Gaelic Games with the social and fun element of Ireland’s traditional pastimes including Drama.
Competing in this competition will have required a great deal of commitment to learn your lines and rehearse. However, it has provided you with the opportunity to develop your confidence, travel to various parts of Ireland and meet new people.
I would like to commend Garvan Gallagher and Stephen Kettyles for Directing and Producing this award-winning play. I would also like to thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise with the young people so they can experience special moments like this.
I would like to commend each member of the cast for the part you played in winning the All Ireland title and for your commitment to learn your lines and rehearse alongside your school and personal commitments. I hope you had fun and have many precious memories. You have done yourselves, your family and friends, your Club, your County and your District proud.
On behalf of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, and on my own behalf, I would like to congratulate every Cast Member, Garvan and Stephen on this significant success. I am confident that you will enjoy more success in the future and I wish you and the Club every success.
Thank you.
