On Wednesday 08 May 2024, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, launched the Council’s Civic Art Collection display, which is currently available to view in the Townhall, Enniskillen until Wednesday 22 May 2024.

The collection was an initiative introduced by Councillor O’Reilly as the first Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in 2015.  The aim of the initiative is to create a legacy where each Chair has the opportunity to promote and support local artists and art galleries and mark their term of Office.

The art pieces are personal to each Chair as they were selected at an exhibition which was launched during their term, or they were specially commissioned.  They also all reflect the District whether that be a location, landscape or piece of writing.

Speaking about the Civic Art Collection, Council Chair, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, said:

“I was delighted to introduce the Civic Art Collection in 2015 and to now have the opportunity to launch the collection which will be on display in the Townhall.

Each of the pieces capture a story and a moment in time which will be cherished for generations to come.

The Council is committed to promoting the arts and the Civic Art Collection helps to achieve this and allows us to support local, and sometimes, aspiring artists.”

The Civic Art Collection will be available to view weekdays from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm until Wednesday 22 May 2024.
