Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is calling on community organisations to avail of funding to host an event during Ulster Scots Leid (Language) Week which runs from 25 – 29 November 2024.

The Council will provide support to successful groups to a maximum of £200 to deliver an event during Leid Week 2024 that raises awareness of the Ulster Scots language through mediums such as language learning, storytelling, drama, music or creative writing. Events must be available to the public free of charge and be held during Leid Week in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Councillor John McClaughry said,

“I am delighted that the Council is offering financial assistance to community groups to run events during Leid Week 2024 which will provide an opportunity to learn more about the Ulster Scots language and celebrate the contribution which Ulster Scots makes across the district.
This funding marks the Council’s commitment and positive actions to facilitate and encourage the promotion, protection, strengthening and enhancement of Ulster Scots culture and heritage including its language, arts and literature. I encourage groups with an interest in Ulster Scots to avail of this funding so that we can showcase rich heritage of the Ulster Scots tradition in all its forms”.
