Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in line with its statutory duty, has launched a consultation on its Improvement Objectives for the year ahead.

The Improvement Objectives set out what the Council will do in 2024-2025 to secure continuous improvement and contribute to the achievement of the priorities identified in the Council’s Corporate Plan 2024-2028.

The Council is committed to improving the lives of residents in the Fermanagh and Omagh District and ensuring that our District can thrive and succeed.  The Improvement Objectives have been carefully selected to demonstrate the Council’s commitment to driving positive change for the benefit of residents and visitors to the District.

The Improvement Objectives are:

  1. We will prioritise the Council progressing towards Net Zero.
  2. We will work in partnership to tackle disadvantage to ensure our people have access to opportunities.
  3. We will work in partnership to achieve a more inclusive economy and to promote shared prosperity across our district.
  4. We will seek to innovate and advance our governance and digital capabilities to improve the quality of our services and the effectiveness and efficiency of the Council.

Commenting on the consultation, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, said:

“As a Council, and as a community, we have all been affected by global events, from the pandemic, to record levels of inflation, and the cost-of-living crisis. In working to achieve improvements, the Council is focused on issues that are important to our communities and which will improve quality of life for all.

The improvements which we have identified will make a positive difference and will ensure that we are using the resources available to us in the most efficient and effective way possible.

The Council welcomes all feedback and I would encourage everyone to have their say so we can continue to support our communities and address local issues.”

Following the consultation process, the Council will consider the feedback received and will publish its agreed Performance Improvement Plan 2024/25 by 30 June 2024.
