Council Launches Free Training Programme for Local Event Organisers

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) and APEX Housing Association, is launching a comprehensive suite of free training sessions to support voluntary and community organisations across the district.
Commenting on the training programme to help strengthen the skills of local groups involved in planning and delivering events, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John McClaughry, said,
“The Council is pleased to be working in partnership to deliver an initiative which offers expert-led, practical training in key areas such as stewarding, fundraising, and social media promotion. These sessions will provide participants with the tools and confidence to deliver safer, more successful events, and reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting and strengthening the voluntary and community sector in Fermanagh and Omagh.”
Online training: Mastering Social Media for Event Success
Led by Niamh Taylor from Digital 24, this online training session will delve into how to use social media effectively to promote events, increase engagement, and boost attendance. Sign up to a session on Thursday 1st May from 12pm – 2pm, or Thursday 6th May from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.

Effective Fundraising for Community Groups
Sponsored by APEX Housing Association and delivered by NICVA, this three-part series of in-person events will help organisations build sustainable fundraising strategies.
The training will be held at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh from 10:30am – 1:00pm on Wednesday 7th, 14th and 21st May 2025.

• Wednesday 7th May: Fundraising Basics & Short-Term Planning
• Wednesday 14th May: Building Your Case for Support
• Wednesday 21st May: Completing Fundraising Applications

Free Stewarding Training for Event Management
Delivered by Proficiency Training and organised by PCSP, this in-person training is ideal for groups involved in event coordination. Topics include crowd control, traffic management, conflict resolution, and emergency response.
The in-person training will be held at the Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown on Thursday 8 May and Monday 9 June 2025 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm. Spaces are limited to four participants per group and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
