Employment Academies for Health and Social Care sector now available in the district

New ‘Health and Social Care Employment Academies’ are to launch in the Fermanagh and Omagh District on Wednesday 24 November 2021.  

The Employment Academies provide training and support to people who are currently out of work or working less than 16 hours per week to apply for current employment opportunities within the Health and Social Care sector.  

The initiative is funded by Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) and is being delivered in partnership with the local Interim Labour Market Partnership –  a partnership which has been established to develop employability and skills programmes to support Fermanagh and Omagh citizens into paid employment.

As part of the Health and Social Care Employment Academies, participants will have the opportunity to find out more about working in the Health and Social Care sector , types of employment opportunities available and undertake a range of personal development training including interview skills, effective communication and teamwork. One to one mentoring will be available to participants for the duration of the programme

The 5-day programme will end with participants having an interview with local employers from the Health and Social Care sector.

The Health and Social Care Employment Academies are for people aged 18- 65 and over currently out of work or working less than 16 hours a week. Experience of caring in a paid or voluntary role, including looking after family or friends is desirable but not essential as this programme is designed for people who have not worked in the Health and Social Care sector before.
