Enniskillen Play Parks reopen following improvement works
31st May 2024
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has officially reopened the play parks in Kilmacormick and Lisgoole, Enniskillen following improvement works as part of the Council’s ambitious Play Park Strategy.
The works, which included the upgrade of existing equipment and provision of new items, will provide opportunities for more accessible and inclusive play with swings, slides, age-appropriate climbing structure, roundabout and activity stations.
Speaking about the works, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, said:
“I am delighted to see the completion of the works at Kilmacormick and Lisgoole Play Parks in Enniskillen.
The ongoing delivery of the Play Park Strategy, now in its 4th year, is important to ensure that residents across the District, in both urban and rural areas, have access to quality play facilities which are convenient and accessible.”
It was regrettable that within a few days of opening, the new play park equipment and seating at Kilmacormick Play Park was vandalised. Vandalism has a negative impact on our communities and this incident diverted valuable Council resources to undertake repairs which would have been used to benefit the wider community. The Council would appeal to anyone who witnesses vandalism, to report it to the PSNI immediately.
The Council’s Play Park Strategy supports the Council’s commitment to ensure our people are healthy and well and our young people have the best start in life. It also aims to ensure that our play park estate is accessible, clean, safe and sustainably managed for the future.
