F&O Cross Country Championships (5)

The Fermanagh and Omagh Primary School Cross – Country Championships took place last week at the Bawnacre, Irvinestown.

The event, which was organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, saw 5 days of intense competition with competitors seeking individual and team honours with over 1750 pupils participating from 39 schools.

Speaking about the Cross Country Championships, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly said:

“The Primary School Cross – Country Championships is a great initiative which encourages our younger residents to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle and it enables them to participate in a large scale, structured sporting event while having fun.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the girls and boys who competed, they should be very proud of themselves.

We are very fortunate to have a great network of primary schools right across the district who arranged for these young people to participate and encouraged them to be active. I would like to thank all the schools for their support.”
