The Fermanagh and Omagh Primary School Cross – Country Championships took place last week at the Bawnacre, Irvinestown.
The event, which was organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, saw 5 days of intense competition with competitors seeking individual and team honours with over 1,550 pupils participating from 37 schools.
Speaking about the Cross Country Championships, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John McClaughry said:
“The Primary School Cross – Country Championships is a fantastic initiative which encourages our younger residents to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle and it enables them to participate in a large scale, structured sporting event while having fun.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the children who competed in this event, they should be very proud of themselves.
Across the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area we are very fortunate to have a great network of primary schools who arranged for these young people to participate and encouraged them to be active. I would like to thank all the schools for their support.”
