Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to Illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre for Charitable Causes Throughout November

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will light up Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on various dates in November to support and raise awareness for a number of important charitable causes.
On Friday 1 November, buildings will be illuminated in Purple in recognition of Child Brian Injury Trust who work with families and professionals across the UK to support them after a child acquires a brain injury.
This year marks 40 years since Nexus was established to support people impacted by rape and sexual abuse and buildings will illuminate on Monday 4 November in light blue to mark the anniversary. Since April 2023, over 100 people from the Fermanagh and Omagh Council area have been referred, or have referred themselves, to Nexus for support. Nexus also work in early intervention and prevention work, as well as host the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline for Northern Ireland.
On Saturday 9 November buildings will light up in Orange to recognise International Microtia Awareness Day, a rare condition that results in underdeveloped ear(s) and impacts hearing. Microtia UK are the only UK based charity to support those born with microtia and their families and this year also marks their 10th Year Anniversary
‘Just Us’, is a local group providing adults with disabilities a regular, fun social life. The group has requested that buildings will illuminate purple to mark ‘Purple Tuesday’ highlighting the barriers faced by consumers with a disability and encouraging businesses to be disability friendly. Buildings will illuminate Purple on Monday 12 November, to mark the ‘Purple Tuesday’ and join the worldwide initiative for enhanced accessibility and inclusivity.
Tuesday 19 November is International Men’s Day and buildings will illuminate Blue. This year key themes include making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys, raising awareness and/or funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing and promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity.
Buildings will illuminate Red for World Aids Day on Friday 29 November. Positive Life NI raises awareness about HIV, reduce stigma, and supports those living with or affected by the condition. The initiative aims to promote solidarity, encourage public dialogue, and highlight the importance of ongoing efforts in prevention, education, and support for individuals and communities impacted by HIV.
