Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to light up buildings in April to support charitable causes
28th March 2025

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, on various dates throughout April to support and raise awareness for several important charitable causes and milestones.
On Monday 1 April 2025, the buildings will be illuminated purple to mark the 10th anniversary of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. This milestone celebrates a decade of service, community engagement, and local development since the Council was established in 2015.
Enniskillen Castle will light up purple on Thursday 4 April 2025, in recognition of Integrated Education Month and the 30th Anniversary of Erne Integrated College. Established in September 1994, the school has been a key part of post-primary integrated education in Fermanagh for three decades. This event highlights the importance of inclusive education and its role in bringing communities together.
On Thursday 11 April 2025, buildings will be illuminated green for World Parkinson’s Day, in partnership with Parkinson’s Support Fermanagh. First celebrated in 1980, this day honours Dr. James Parkinson, who first described the disease in 1817. The initiative raises awareness of Parkinson’s, promotes research, and supports those living with the condition.
The illuminations will turn red on Thursday 17 April 2025, for World Haemophilia Day, in collaboration with Haemophilia NI. This year’s theme, “Access for all: Women and girls bleed too”, highlights the challenges faced by women and girls with bleeding disorders, advocating for better diagnosis, treatment, and support.
On Thursday 24 April 2025, council buildings will light up pink to celebrate Global Intergenerational Week 2025, in partnership with Linking Generations NI. Running from 24–30 April, this campaign promotes the importance of intergenerational connections in building stronger, more inclusive communities.
World Wish Day takes place on Tuesday 29 April 2025, when buildings will be illuminated blue in support of Make-A-Wish UK. This campaign raises awareness of the charity’s work in granting life-changing wishes to critically ill children. Make-A-Wish UK aims to expand its reach in Northern Ireland to ensure every eligible child receives the joy and hope of a wish come true.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council remains committed to supporting charitable causes and raising awareness through the illumination of Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre.
