Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on various dates throughout the month of October

On Saturday 1 October 2023, both buildings were illuminated purple to mark International Day of Older Persons.  The day is celebrated annually to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives.

On Monday 2 October 2023, both buildings were illuminated pink to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to show support and solidarity for those affected by breast cancer and celebrate the survivors who fought the disease.

Both buildings will be illuminated blue on Wednesday 4 October in recognition of Rural Community Transport and the Rural Transport Fund who have been connecting communities for 25 years. 

On Sunday 8 October both buildings will be illuminated red to mark  Dyslexia Awareness Month.  Dyslexia Awareness Month aims to support those with this learning difficulty. Dyslexia is not a disorder of any kind; but is a learning impairment that causes problems with writing, reading, and spelling. 

On Tuesday 10 October, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, will be illuminated red to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of Barnlee Crafts and Activities Charity Shop in Market Square, Derrylin.  The shop opened in October 2013 and is staffed by volunteers from the local community.  FACT (Friendship and Caring Trust) would like to pay tribute to all the volunteers for their invaluable and im-measurable support and to thank the customers and donators. 

Thursday 12 October 2023 will see both buildings illuminated blue to mark World Arthritis Day.  World Arthritis Day is a global awareness day aimed towards increasing knowledge of the existence and impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.  

On Friday 13 October 2023 Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated purple to mark Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.  The day is intended to drive awareness of the need for more research about metastatic disease.

On Sunday 15 October 2023 Enniskillen Castle will be illuminated pink and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated blue to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week.  Baby Loss Awareness Week is a special opportunity to mark the lives of babies lost in pregnancy or at or soon after birth.

Tuesday 17 October 2023 will see both buildings illuminated purple to mark Parenting Week.  Parenting Week is lead by Parenting NI, it is a week to recognise and celebrate all those in a parenting role.

Black History Month will be recognised on Friday 20 October 2023 when both buildings will be illuminated Red.  Black History Month was originally founded to recognise the contributions that people of African and Caribbean backgrounds have made to the UK over many generations. 

Postural Tachycardia Syndrome Awareness Day is Wednesday 25 October, on this day both Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated purple.  Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (PoTS) is a disabling condition which mostly affects young adults. The aim of PoTS is to improve services for people suffering from PoTS.
