Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Agricultural Liaison Group visits CAFRE, Enniskillen
19th November 2024
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Agricultural Liaison Group were recently invited on a visit of CAFRE, Enniskillen Campus. The facility offers educational programmes for students aged 16 up to Honours students.
The visit offered the opportunity to see the variety of courses available with particular focus on equine studies. The Group were informed on how these courses offered a clear road to employment in the equine industry.
Councillor Allan Rainey MBE, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Agricultural Liaison Group commented:
“The facilities at CAFRE, Enniskillen are state of the art and include horse riding simulator machines which allow the students to train indoors, with an instructor at their side. This also benefits the horses by reducing the risk of over excursion. It really is exciting to see the opportunities for students here.”
The campus has also invested in state of the art lighting that encourages horses to begin the breeding season earlier in the year.
Jane Elliot from CAFRE highlighted that there is huge growth in the equine industry market and that all training courses will lead students into employment. She added that there is a Masterplan for the redevelopment of the campus which is currently at business case stage and this will be developed into a 10 year growth plan to guide the future sustainability and growth of the facility.
