Fermanagh and Omagh District Council launched its Annual Report, ‘Looking Back, Moving Forward: Achieving Sustainable Change Together’ on the 30 September 2024.

The Annual Report is a self-assessment of how the Council has performed against its Corporate Plan commitments and its identified Improvement Objectives in the 2023-2024 financial year. It also provides an overview of the financial position at 31 March 2024 including information on the Statement of Accounts.

The Council seeks to continually improve its systems and services, supporting and empowering our communities and responding to external conditions in a way that inspires hope and creates opportunity for all.

Speaking about the Annual Report, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John McClaughry said:

“As a Council, we are proud of what has been achieved over the last 12 months considering the ongoing and significant challenges including financial pressures, the new and increasing demands on Council services and the adverse climate and ecological changes.

I am pleased that, during 2023-2024, the Council was awarded by the Royal Town Planning Institute the prestigious ‘Northern Ireland Planning Authority of the Year’ by the Royal Town Planning Institute, highlighting the contribution planning has and continues to make to our local communities in which we serve.

We also continued to support people living in low-income households through our hardship fund. In this Annual Report we have also reflected on the impact we have made against our Corporate Plan 2020-2024. I am delighted that we have been able to provide over £1 million of grant funding to our local community and voluntary sector who do amazing work in our local communities.

Looking forward, the Council will continue to focus on a regenerated District with better quality jobs, vibrant communities living healthy lives, enhanced green spaces, local economic growth, fair distribution of opportunities and access to public services which are fit to meet the challenges of the future.”

The Fermanagh Omagh 2030 Community Plan Strategic Vision is reflected in the Council’s Corporate Plan; the two plans continue to be the roadmap to a thriving, resilient, successful, connected, healthier and inclusive Fermanagh and Omagh. In achieving this, the Council will continue to support residents and adapt to and embrace opportunities and challenges in the external environment.
