Fermanagh & Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has launched a new road safety campaign, Who is Bringing You Home Tonight? aimed at encouraging responsible decision-making during the festive season.

The initiative, developed in partnership with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), features specially designed beer mats which will be distributed to bars across the district. These beer mats carry an important message, reminding individuals to plan their journey home responsibly after enjoying a night out.

Vice Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Elaine Brough spoke about the initiative and said
‘As we approach the festive season, I want to encourage everyone to prioritise safety both on and off the roads. The ‘Who is Bringing You Home Tonight?’ campaign is a powerful reminder of the importance of planning ahead and making responsible choices. By thinking carefully about how we get home, we can help ensure this Christmas is a safe and joyful time for all. I am delighted that Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is supporting this campaign which highlights the vital message of road safety during the holidays.’

Speaking about the campaign, PCSP Chair Councillor Roy Crawford said,

“We are collaborating with local officers to distribute these beer mats to bars throughout the area. They aim to encourage individuals to think carefully about their journey home. The message is simple but vital: make the right choice by arranging a taxi or securing a lift with someone who is sober and fit to drive.”

With the holiday season often being a time of celebration, the PCSP and PSNI are working together to prevent the tragic consequences of impaired driving. This initiative seeks to promote a culture of responsibility and road safety in the community.

PSNI Inspector Gary Irvine from Fermanagh & Omagh G District added,

”This is a time of celebration, but it is also a time to remember the devastating consequences that impaired driving can have on families and communities. Unfortunately, our local roads have seen a significant increase in casualties this year. By increasing our patrols and checkpoints, we hope to prevent further tragedies and ensure everyone gets home safely.”
