Emergency Services Day 2024 will take place on Sunday 26 May at Broadmeadow, Enniskillen. After BBC Presenter Barra Best opens the event at 2pm, there will be an afternoon of thrilling displays, showcasing the work of Fermanagh and Omagh Emergency Services, as well as a kid’s activity zone.

The highly anticipated event, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), includes live interactive entertainment, including rescue and investigative demonstrations, opportunities to step inside ambulance, fire and police service vehicles, helicopter landings, and much more.

Alongside the Emergency Services demonstration areas, there will be a free kid’s zone featuring a climbing wall, inflatable dart board, photo props and activities with Jo Jingles.

Expressing excitement for this year’s Emergency Services Day and gratitude to all those involved, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh PCSP, Cllr Tommy Maguire, said,

“I am delighted that this year PCSP is once again hosting Emergency Services Day in Enniskillen. Showcasing the Emergency Services through interactive displays, gives the public the opportunity to see the invaluable work that they do in keeping communities safe and their efforts in emergency situations. This year, the range of displays is bigger than ever, broadening the appeal across all age groups. I commend the enthusiasm and commitment of the different organisations many of whom are volunteer led and work with the PCSP to plan and deliver this excellent event.

We welcome back Barra Best as compere and we hope he brings good weather with him.”

To help the public understand the work the Emergency Services carry out on a daily basis, Erne Coastguard Rescue Team, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS), Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS), North West Mountain Rescue Team (NWMRT), Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) have planned the following informative, entertaining demonstrations:

14:00 Crash Car Simulator with Fermanagh and Omagh PCSP. This vehicle provides a realistic simulation of a Road Traffic Accident with movement, sound and vision.

14:00 NIPS demonstration, providing with the opportunity to have a look inside a real Prison Service Van and talk to the NIPS about their work.

14:30 Water rescue demonstration by the stars of BBC’s series ‘Saving Lives at Sea’. At Castle Island waterside the Fermanagh RNLI rescue demonstration will also involve the NWMRT to help move the casualty from the foreshore to the safety of an ambulance.

14:45 New this year is a NIFRS and Enniskillen Airport simulated aircraft rescue in cooperation with NIAS. This will involve a simulated rescue from an aircraft, with casualties being brought to the safety of an ambulance.

15:15 Demonstration with the PSNI dogs’ team as they demonstrate how highly trained canines remain one of the most valuable assets in modern day policing.

15:30 Coastguard Helicopter landing. Times and landings are subject to operational needs.
