Hats off to Forthill

There was fun and frolics in Forthill Park, Enniskillen, on Friday 26 July with the return of the popular ‘Hats off to Forthill’ event, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

Rain showers failed to dampen spirits with locals and visitors coming along to the historic park to try out traditional games including hula hooping and rope making while enjoying live music from local musician Antonia Cameron.
Other highlights on the day included biodiversity activities, facepainting and balloon modelling as well as song and dance workshops for children.

Visitors also had the opportunity to scale the 108 steps to climb to the top of Cole’s Monument to see the statue of Galbraith Lowry Cole and enjoy the panoramic views of Forthill Park and the island town of Enniskillen from the top of the 98ft tower.
Speaking about the Hats off to Forthill event, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor John McClaughry commented;

‘’It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the Hats off to Forthill event, despite the rain. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council aims to provide the highest quality experience for both residents and visitors and this event is a great way for people to get outside and enjoy time with friends and family in one of our beautiful, historic parks.”
