Hooked on 2023 Fermanagh Classic Fishing Festival
21st April 2023
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are delighted to be hosting the successful 46th Fermanagh Fishing Classic 2023 event that takes place from Tuesday 9 May to Friday 12 May.
The Fermanagh Classic Fishing Festival is one of the most anticipated premier showcase events of the match coarse fishing season calendar. This prestigious event welcomes over 200 anglers from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain, Germany, France and further afield taking part.
The fishing festival will take place over three days with a change to the norm this year due to the Bank Holiday that celebrates the coronation of King Charles III, with fishing taking place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Festival participants are invited to a registration event on Sunday 7 May, including a closing Gala prize-giving event on Friday 12 May, which brings together a true celebration for the love of competitive angling, whom many anglers have been returning to Fermanagh inland shores for decades.
The ‘King of the Erne’ competition, which complements ‘Classic Week’, will also take place on Monday 2 May and Thursday 11 May and registration for this event is now open through the Erne Anglers Club.
Speaking about the 2023 Fermanagh Classic Fishing Festival, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said:
“The Classic Fishing Festival, now in its 46th year, is one of the Council’s longest established events in Fermanagh.
We heartily welcome the many anglers who make the annual pilgrimage to the Lakeland County.
Events such as the Classic are hugely important for the district as they are key economic drivers and provide an opportunity to showcase what the area has to offer.”
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with DAERA Inland Fisheries will deliver the Fermanagh Classic Fishing Festival, and registration for this event is currently open via the Council website – please click here.
