A village enhancement project delivered under the Covid Recovery Small Settlement Regeneration Programme has recently been completed in Belcoo Enterprise Centre, thanks to an investment of just under £50,000.

The Covid Recovery Small Settlement Regeneration Programme funded by the Council in partnership with the Department for Communities, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and the Department for Infrastructure, aims to deliver positive, visual impacts and assist small settlements to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the capital funding has enabled renovations at the Enterprise Centre including upgrading doors and windows and transforming a room previously used for storage into a modern, welcoming flexible and dynamic working space that has been named ‘The Hub’.

Councillor Barry McElduff, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council commented

“The regeneration of small villages such as Belcoo is vitally important.

This programme of investment will ensure that our rural communities can contribute to build a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient local economy.

The Council plays an integral role in regeneration and is committed to ensuring that the district is welcoming and that our economy is thriving, expanding and outward looking”.

Noel McAllister, Chair of Belcoo Enterprise Ltd, said

“We are delighted with ‘The HUB’ which is a new modern working space that will not only connect people but also give the business community an opportunity to work remotely from a convenient location in Belcoo. We would like to thank Fermanagh and Omagh District Council for all their help and support in implementing this project”.

As the programme continues, projects totalling £2.5million will be delivered across 14 villages in the coming months across a geographical spread within the district.

This includes other village enhancement projects such as supporting property owners with improvements and frontage screening on community premises, sports facilities, village amenities and other infrastructure.

‘The Hub’ is available to book for individual working, meetings and training activities, please visit the Lakeland Community Care website: lakelandcare.org.uk .
