Fermanagh and Omagh Community Planning partners are working to establish the area as an “Age Friendly District”.   In taking forward this work, partners have become increasingly concerned at the difficulties in recruiting social care staff.  On Thursday 18 October, employers within the Social Care sector came together to discuss how they could be supported to fill the large number of vacancies which currently exist across the Fermanagh and Omagh district.  As a result, two Recruitment Events have been organised; One in Omagh Leisure Complex on Wednesday 7 November and another on Thursday 8 November in Fermanagh Lakeland Forum.  Both events will run from 10am to 12.30pm.

Jobs are currently available in the Community and in residential and nursing homes.  The social care sector provides opportunities for a rewarding career making a real difference to those in need.

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council, Department for Communities, South West College, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the South West Age Partnership and Employers from the Health and Social Care Sector are working closely to try to ensure that these events are a success.

Anyone who would consider a career in the Social work and social care sector is invited to come along for a cup of tea and a chat with lots of local employers, the NI Social Care Council for advice and South West College to discuss opportunities for career progression.
