The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is to assume responsibility for the management of Ely Lodge Forest Walk from 18 June 2024.

The car park and walk are currently managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and is part of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark as part of a licence agreement with DAERA.

Public access to the Ely Lodge Forest Walk, including access to walking trails and Carrickreagh Jetty, will remain unchanged, but will no longer be the responsibility of Fermanagh and Omagh district Council.

Carrickreagh Viewpoint Walk – located opposite the Ely Lodge Forest Walk – will continue to be managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and remains part of Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark.
