Summer Fun in Fermanagh and Omagh

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised a packed programme of activity and family entertainment across the district this summer season.

The annual ‘Hats off to the Forthill’ takes place at Forthill Park, Enniskillen on Friday 26 July from 2pm – 5pm. Forthill Park will play host to an afternoon of free family fun including traditional games and crafts, music, hula hooping and more.

Cole’s Monument will also be open allowing visitors to see the statue of Galbraith Lowry Cole up close and enjoy a panoramic / 360 degree view of Enniskillen at the top of the 98ft tower.

The annual ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ is taking place in the Grange Park, Omagh on Saturday 27 July 2024 from 1pm – 4pm. Those attending can look forward to hearing Jimmy Kennedy’s iconic Teddy Bears Picnic song and more classics performed by St Eugene’s Brass and Reed Band and Tom Sweeney’s ‘Tots and Teddy’ singalong for everyone to join in.

There will also be storytelling, fun games and activities including a mini-beast hunt, butterfly trail competition with a Teddy Bear Trail, characters, and face painting as part of the free family event.

“The Council is committed to delivering the best quality experience for those who live in and visit our district.
It is fantastic to have such an impressive programme of entertainment on offer for all to enjoy throughout the summer months. I encourage both residents and visitors to come along and take part in the family fun across the district this July and August.’

A Seasonal Outdoor Music Programme will also take place on Sundays at the Round O Enniskillen and Grange Park, Omagh. Taking place from 1pm-3pm throughout the months of July and August, visitors will be able to enjoy live performances from musicians, bands and singers.

Enniskillen Castle is hosting a range of summer events including a number of open-air theatre performances with something for the whole family to enjoy. ‘Museum of Discoveries, Waters of Wonder’ takes place from 12 – 16 August, where participants will discover the secrets of the past from its earliest settlers to more present day through a range of fun activities including archery and paddling a canoe across Lough Erne like a Viking.

The Ardhowen Theatre and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, both have a packed programme of shows and performances and a range of workshops for children and young people this summer.
Meanwhile, a range of events will take place at the Marble Arch Caves including ‘Echoes of Summer’ on Sunday 21 July which will offer guests a unique experience with local Caritas Chamber Choir performing a selection of classical to contemporary music in the cave.

In addition, visitors to the Marble Arch Caves can enjoy 15% off Guided Cave Tour tickets when travelling to the venue via the Summer Translink Service which departs weekdays throughout the summer from Enniskillen Bus Station.

A range of events, sponsored by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are also taking place across the district this summer including Tyrone Farming Society-Omagh Show, the Lady of the Lake Festival and Fermanagh Grand Orange Lodge Twelfth in Irvinestown, Champion of Champions Junior Golf tournament at Lough Erne Golf Resort, Enniskillen, Ulster Fleadh in Dromore, Area 17 NI Pony Club at Castle Irvine, Irvinestown, Omagh Eats event at Main St Omagh, Lough Erne Yacht Club J24 Irish Championships on Lough Erne and a number of family sports and fun days, drama, music and more.
