Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted to announce that its popular ASPIRE Employability Programme is now open for applications after securing funding for another year from the Northern Ireland European Social Fund Programme 2014-2020 and Department for the Economy.

ASPIRE is a Fermanagh and Omagh District Council led employability programme that has been successfully supporting people into paid employment since 2015.  The programme operates in partnership with the Western Health & Social Care Trust, the Education Authority for the Western Region and delivery partner Fermanagh Rural Community Initiative.

This coming year will see ASPIRE continue to provide tailored support that will help local unemployed, underemployed or economically inactive people overcome the barriers to employment. ASPIRE provides assistance by facilitating short courses, qualifications, work placements and CV development right through to practical support with the job application process.

Welcoming the funding until March 2023, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said: “It is heartening to hear how ASPIRE helps so many people back into work. By investing in skills and talent in a tailored way, the targetted nature of the support will bring huge benefits to many and is intergral to the economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic not just for our district but Northern Ireland as a whole.

Having supported over 200 people during 2021 back into paid employment, I want to thank the local business community for embracing this initiative and working with our Employability Team to create these fantastic job opportunities.
