Motion: Programme for Government 2024

Council Meeting - 6th February 2024

This Council writes to all Parties in Stormont requesting that they work to achieve the priorities set out below in any Programme for Government negotiations.

As such we would ask that all Stormont Department Ministers takes account of the historical under investment in the rural west and brings in new checks and balances so that these inequalities can never happen again.

This Councils priorities include,

FERMANAGH PROJECTS

  1. Return of Emergency/General Surgery services to the SWAH.
  2. Complete the Upgrade of the A32 and prioritise the upgrade of the A4 from Ballygawley to Sligo which includes the Enniskillen bypass.
  3. Funding to help complete the Ulster Canal project.
  4. Release funding to advance the new build of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School.OMAGH AREA PROJECTS
    1. A5 to be given priority as soon as the Public Inquiry reports.
    2. Commitment for the completion of the Strule Education Campus.
    3. New mental Health Unit to be funded.

    GENERAL RURAL PRIORITIES

    1. A properly resourced annual rural roads resurfacing scheme.
    2. Rural GP Services to be prioritised.
    3. Guarantee that farm funding will be ring fenced and inflation index linked and the restoration of the ANC farm payment.
    4. Guarantee equality in the investment provided by Invest NI.
