Motion: Sports Capital Grants

That this Council notes

a) that the Irish Government made a total investment of €256 million in sports clubs and facilities during 2024 through the Community Sport Facilities Fund (formerly Sports Capital and Equipment Programme),

b) calls on the Department for Communities (DfC) to work in partnership with its arms-length public body Sport NI to re-introduce a similarsports capital grants programme in this region

and

c) further notes that every such grant complements voluntary commitment; acts as a social and economic stimulus for communities and, further, represents a project that will create new or improved opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in sport to the best of their ability.
