Motion: Utilising Modern Technology to Facilitate Driver Theory Tests

Council Meeting - 9th April 2024

This council calls on the new Minister of Infrastructure to investigate utilising modern technology, including Al, to enable easier access to driver theory tests.

This would allow the test to be taken digitally in a way that is secure and valid, and would not require learners to travel to their nearest centre.

Could DFI look into whether digital technology could be used in locations, like libraries and other local hubs, which already have accessible computers.

This would be a cost effective way to take the pressure off waiting lists, remove excess travel and create local jobs.

It would also allow rural towns and villages easier access to tests, including in Fermanagh, which still remains the only county in the North without a physical centre.
