Road to Rights: A Child Rights Awareness Bus Tour
To celebrate World Children’s Day on 20th November, the NI Commissioner for Children and Young People and his Youth Panel delivered a week of Child Rights awareness activities, through engagement with young people, their parents/ guardians, political representatives and professionals working with, and for, children and young people.
The young people developed a Child Rights Bus tour that visited Enniskillen on Tuesday 19th November in the Town Hall. Around 50 young people from 6 local schools attended to participate in this young person led ‘Road to Rights’ event.
The event focused on young people working together, learning about children’s rights and how they can impact on their day to day lives. They explored local transport issues such as safety and sustainability and took part in an Q&A Panel session with the Children’s Commissioner, Translink’s Service Delivery Manager for Enniskillen/Dungannon; Fermanagh & Omagh District Council’s Director of Community & Wellbeing and Council Chair Cllr John McClaughry.
