- > Have their say on local issues,
- > Meet new friends
- > Be a representative voice for young people in their area.
- > Be involved and pro-actively engaged with local decision making processes
Youth Voice Objectives:
- To provide a framework for statutory and partner agencies to meet their statutory responsibility to listen to and consult with young people.
- To help empower young people to play an active part in influencing what happens in their local communities.
- To be a key consultative group for good relations issues affecting young people in the area.
Democracy Project
Good Relations Democracy Project provides an opportunity for Government and Politics students at AS and A level to participate in a programme on the workings of local government. The programme focuses on the role and functions of the Council in the Northern Ireland context, proportional representation voting, and responsibilities of Elected Members. An enactment of a Council meeting where students can take on the role as an Elected Members alongside Council Elected Members and a simulated count for proportional voting will give an insight into the workings of Council in an interactive manner.
