Pathways out of Poverty
an Anti-Poverty Strategy for Fermanagh and Omagh
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has developed “Pathways out of Poverty”, a 10-year anti-poverty strategy for the district, in partnership with a number of local statutory, community and voluntary sector organisations.
The strategy aims to improve the lives and wellbeing of residents in Fermanagh and Omagh by supporting people who are experiencing poverty, and working with communities to reduce and prevent poverty.
The strategy has been developed around three core themes: Mitigating the effects for people experiencing poverty; Prevention and reduction of poverty; and Design and delivery of services and supports for people experiencing poverty.
A number of priorities were highlighted through the course of developing the strategy, including: supporting households in meeting their basic needs; information, advice & communication; increasing household income through better paid and more secure employment; reducing household costs and other outgoings, including debt; and changing the narrative around poverty.
