Vapes and E-Cigarettes – Disposing of Single Use (disposable)
Vapes are classified as electrical items and, therefore, fall within the scope of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations and, under Regulation 31, a system for the separate collection and treatment of WEEE is required.
Vapes should be placed in the Small Electrical Appliances or designated container at your local Household Recycling Centre, Before disposing of the item, if they battery can be easily removed, this should be separately placed in the appropriate batteries container at the Household Recycling Centre.
Whole vapes and e-cigarettes should not be placed in any other bin (household, commercial or street bins) due to the potential risk of fire from the lithium-ion batteries and the harmful impact to the environment if not disposed of properly.
