Public Health
The Environmental Health Department’s aim is to protect public health and improve the quality of life of residents of the Fermanagh & Omagh District Council area.
The Council will investigate a wide range of public health nuisance complaints and queries such as:
- Defective premises – drainage, including septic tanks
- Ruinous and dilapidated Buildings
- Smoke, dust and fumes
- Smells, gases or other effluvia
- Accumulations or deposits
- Animals kept in such a manner as to be a nuisance
- Noise
Under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act (Northern Ireland) 2011, the Council has powers after investigation, if a statutory nuisance is confirmed, to serve an Abatement Notice requiring the person responsible for the nuisance to undertake works as necessary to abate the nuisance within a set time-frame.
It is an offence to fail to comply with the Abatement Notice and the Council may instigate legal proceedings for non-compliance with the Notice.
The Council also provides advice on a wider range of public health matters. Click on the links provided or click here to make an enquiry.
