Tobacco Control / Smoke Free
It is against the law to smoke in most enclosed workplaces and public places, including:
- Offices, factories, bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels and other places of work
- Schools
- Hospitals
- Public places such as shopping centres, churches, community halls, health centres, etc.
- Most vehicles used for work purposes and public vehicles such as cars, lorries, vans, buses, taxis, trains and minibuses
No smoking signage should be displayed at each entrance to smoke-free premises and in smoke-free vehicles. No smoking signage is available, subject to availability, from the Environmental Health Department at the Townhall, Enniskillen or Lisnamallard House, Omagh.
Under the Smoking (Northern Ireland) Order 2006, Fermanagh & Omagh District Council Officials will visit premises throughout the Council area to check they are complying with the law, to offer help and advice and to serve Fixed Penalties or take legal action against offenders, where necessary.
