Council Constitution & Standing Orders
A Council is required, under section 2 of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014, to prepare and keep up to date a Constitution.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Constitution sets out how the Council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people. Some of these processes are required by law, while others are a matter for the Council to choose.
The Constitution is divided into a number of articles which set out the basic rules governing the Council’s business. More detailed procedures and codes of practice are provided in the rules and protocols found at Parts 2 – 6 of the document.
